My preschooler got interested in the spider webs we have outside, around the trees. I decided it was a teachable moment, so we got to work. To learn more about spider webs, we had to learn more about spiders, of course.

Then, we went outside with a  magnifying glass and looked into the spider webs. There weren’t two webs that were alike! They were all spun differently.

We then came home and tried to draw the different patterns of spider webs.

Then, we made a spider web on a geoboard.

Then, we tried to make a web out of yarn, but my child wanted to work with balloons instead of yarn, so he made this:

Finally, we did some spider web coloring pages, as these followed some specific patters and were good for early math skills.
