We were studying the types of moss at homeschool. As in all nature studies, that involved a lot of time outdoors. The kids walked around, searched and observed the moss that could be found around the house. They also brought home some samples. We later looked up the names of the moss they had found. to make understanding and learning easier, we put it all on the board.

Types of Moss Project

You need a piece of cardboard, samples of the local moss, glue, pen, marker

The major types of moss are: pincushion, rose, tree, haircap, broom, white-tipped and spoon-leaved.

Write these names down. Next to each name either draw the corresponding moss ( look up the pictures on google,) or glue the sample you had found.
