Some of my children learn math a lot better when math is combined with a craft. We made these math mittens with pompoms to learn addition and subtraction and also to create something pretty. This craft presents a fun way to learn some math in the winter.

Math Mittens with Pompoms

You need: construction paper, scissors, school glue, pompoms, pen

Trace your hand with a pen on paper, creating a loose, mitten-like outline. Cut the mitten out. Using a pen, write age-appropriate math problems on each mitten. It could be 2+3 or 15-11 or multiplication or division problems. For toddlers, just write one single-digit number.

The child has to find a solution and then glue the right number of pompoms onto the mitten.
