Flavored water is a wonderful healthy alternative to soda, bottled water and juice. Whilst trying to avoid sugary drinks ( even homemade ones) I wanted to find something other than plain water for us to enjoy. While working at our garden yesterday, I noticed that our mint has grown, so I picked a handful of leaves, sliced a lemon and added some water. The result was crispy, light and refreshing. Actually, it tasted so amazing that I was surprised! When you finish your flavored water, just add more ice cubes or water to the bottle and in a few hours you will have flavored water again! You can do this up to three times. What do you drink in the summer?
You need a 2 quart mason jar and a muddler. If you have neither, a large pitcher and a potato masher will do.
You can drink the flavored water right away, but the flavor intensifies after an hour or two. It’s even better the next day. The ice at the top serves as a sieve so that you can pour the flavored water without getting mint or lemon in your glass.
