Writing On Salt: Montessori

This is a fun sensory Montessori activity that prepares your child for writing. Give your child a tray of salt and an index card with a letter on it. Ask them to copy the letter on salt, using their finger. Kids love the sensory aspect of writing on salt.

Once letters are easy, you can move on to simple words. Give your child an index card with a car on it and  a word “car.” Ask them to write the word on salt. Go through many short words using this technique ( not in one setting.) For the next stage, just show your child a picture of an object ( car) and ask the to write the word from memory.
