We did a fun Montessori-type sensory activity the other day in our homeschool preschool: pouring of water. I gave my oldest son a plastic cup of water and five more empty plastic cups. I also gave him two spoons of different sizes. He loved pouring the water back and forth between the cups.

Pouring  enhances control and coordination, which gives the child more coordination. The child is learning fine and gross motor skills, as well as developing eye-hand coordination, in a safe, prepared environment. It is self-correcting work and needs no intervention.

You can finally make one of my recipes, while your child is busy pouring water!

One Response to Pouring Water- Montessori

Sometimes I ask myself, why do we (adults) always think that we have to do something “great” with a child instead of letting him observe and learn from simple things? I believe that they benefit much more from simplicity. Awesome post!
